Honesty is sanity

Honesty is sanity

Here’s how Lack of honesty will kill your business

It’s hard and scary to tell someone they’re wrong, doing a bad job, or give them bad news.

It’s 10 times harder to do this to someone who has power over you or is higher in the org chart (salary, promotion, days off, projects you’ll get.

As a business leader, think how many times you got feedback from someone working for you today or this week?

This is a courageous person.

It’d be easier for them to avoid this conversation.

Without their honesty and courage you wouldn’t know what’s real. Just like the level keeps the carpenter real.

If the carpenter ignores the level, the furniture will come out skewed and unstable. Not able to bear load.

Each time your team doesn’t speak up, or calls you out, or is afraid to tell you something, being dishonest, they’re adding an unstable piece of furniture to your company.

Multiply this throughout your organization and you have a crooked understanding of reality that doesn't fit the world around it.

A confident leader, like a skilled carpenter, constantly checks against the level, against reality.

Not because truth is comfortable, but because building anything lasting requires knowing where the ground actually is.

You’ve got to create the conditions in which your team and clients feel safe and comfortable to be totally honest. Especially when you’re not performing well.

Your rate of improvement will go through the roof!
